The arrests were carried out during a so-called security operation, with the youth reportedly taken into custody without any transparent legal grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Indian Army\u2019s 27 Assam Rifles launched a cordon-and-search operation along the Sopore\u2013Bandipora road in north Kashmir after claiming to have detected a \u201csuspected object\u201d in the area. The road was temporarily blocked, causing inconvenience to commuters, while residents were subjected to fear and harassment during the operation.<\/p>\n<p>Rights observers say such arrests and frequent cordon-and-search operations have become routine in IIOJK, aimed at intimidating the local population and creating an atmosphere of constant surveillance and insecurity.
