Leh: The Leh Apex Body (LAB) has called for a united political front in Ladakh to strengthen the struggle for political rights including inclusion under the Sixth Schedule.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, LAB co-chairman Cherring Dorjay Lakruk appealed to all local political parties to dissolve their district units and unite under the Apex Body to press collective demands. He said such unity was the need of the hour to effectively project Ladakh\u2019s political aspirations before the Indian government.<\/p>\n

Responding to the appeal, the Aam Aadmi Party\u2019s Leh district unit announced its decision to dissolve its local unit, subject to all political parties doing so simultaneously. The party said the demand for Sixth Schedule status would not be compromised under any circumstances.<\/p>\n

The development comes as Ladakh leaders await a fresh round of talks with New Delhi, following subcommittee-level discussions held in October in which a draft proposal seeking statehood and Sixth Schedule protections was submitted. However, no clarity has emerged on when the next round of dialogue will take place.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the LAB dismissed a newly formed group, \u201cVoice of Buddhist Ladakh,\u201d alleging it was created to weaken the Apex Body\u2019s position and divide public opinion ahead of talks with the Indian government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
