Islamabad: A comprehensive program on the Right to Self-Determination was held at the National Press Club, Islamabad, under the auspices of the All Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference (AJKMC) on January 5.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar was chaired by former AJKMC president Mirza Shafiq Jaral Advocate, with Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan, president of AJKMC and former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, as the chief guest. Renowned lawyer Sardar Abdul Razaq Khan Advocate conducted the proceedings.<\/p>\n
Addressing the seminar, APHC leader Shaikh Mateen emphasized the continuing relevance of January 5, citing it as an international legal commitment recognizing Kashmiris as the principal party and exposing persistent violations of their right to self-determination.<\/p>\n
Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan said that self-determination is the fundamental right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, rooted in the principles of Partition and international resolutions. He warned that ignoring these legal commitments and the aspirations of Kashmiris could destabilize the region, and that the sacrifices of six lakh martyrs cannot go in vain. He called on the UN resolutions to form the foundation for a durable resolution.<\/p>\n
Mirza Shafiq Jaral Advocate underlined that January 5 reminds the world of the Kashmiris\u2019 struggle and the UN Security Council resolutions that remain the legal basis for resolving the issue. He urged the international community to take notice of human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Kashmir and reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s continued moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n
Other speakers included AJKMC Secretary-General Madam Mehr-un-Nisa, Hurriyat leader Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Major Sardar Nasrullah Khan, Madam Shamim Ali Malik, Sajid Qureshi Advocate, Asim Zahid Abbasi, and Raja Zaki Jabbar, who collectively called for adherence to the principles of Azadi-e-Hind, Kashmir\u2019s accession to Pakistan, and implementation of relevant international resolutions.<\/p>\n
