Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that Indian forces have launched a fresh arrest spree in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley, detaining more than two dozen youth to initmidate freedom and peace-loving Kashmiris in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar said draconian laws such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Public Safety Act (PSA) and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) are being systematically used to crush the Kashmiris\u2019 legitimate demand for a UN-mandated plebiscite, resulting in killings and arbitrary detentions in the occupied territory.<\/p>\n
He strongly condemned the statement of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah made during a review meeting on IIOJK in New Delhi yesterday, where he claimed that \u201cunder the leadership of Prime Minister NarendraModi, the central government is committed to establishing lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir and completely eliminating terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n
The APHC spokesman said such claims are contradicted by ground realities, asserting India is, in fact, engaged in a war of crimes, flagrantly violating international norms in Jammu and Kashmir, an internationally recognised disputed territory.He said the Indian government and its installed IIOJK regime, army, police, and intelligence agencies are collectively involved in perpetrating state-sponsored terrorism in the occupied territory.<\/p>\n
Commenting on Amit Shah\u2019s directives to officials and the LG administration to intensify operations against pro-freedom Kashmiri groups, the spokesman said the Indian government has turned Kashmir into a military camp since 1947, using black laws as instruments of repression.He lamented that the BJP regime and the New Delhi-installed Lieutenant Governor are hell-bent on destroying all peaceful means of resolving the long-pending Kashmir dispute. The prevailing situation of occupation is a matter of shame for so-called democratic India, he added.<\/p>\n
Arbitrary arrests, cordon-and-search operations, house raids and attachment of properties in IIOJK are aimed at silencing voices and terrorising freedom-loving Kashmiris, he said.<\/p>\n
The APHC spokesman reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is a UN-recognised disputed territory whose political future must be decided through a free, fair and impartial plebiscite.<\/p>\n
He said political leadership, activists, religious leaders, journalists, youth, human rights defenders and even ordinary Kashmiris are being implicated in false cases and detained under draconian laws to silence the people and stifle resistance.<\/p>\n
The APHC urged the United Nations and international human rights organisations to hold India accountable for it continued crackdown and atrocities angainst innocent Kashmirs, and to pressure India to resolve the lingering dispute in accordance with the will of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
