Jammu: Indian police resorted to cane charge to disperse protesting aspirants during a Border Security Force (BSF) recruitment drive on Akhnoor Road in Jammu, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The aspirants were protesting after being barred from the recruitment process, stating that candidates from outside the territory were allowed to take part while local aspirants were excluded.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, scores of aspirants gathered outside the BSF gate on Akhnoor Road after discovering that their names were missing from the list of candidates allowed to participate in the recruitment drive that was underway in the area. The protesters, many of whom had travelled from far-flung areas, staged a demonstration that led to the blocking of traffic on the busy road and disrupted vehicular movement.<\/p>\n
Police rushed to the spot and used force, including cane charge, to disperse the agitated youth.<\/p>\n
The aspirants said they had prepared for months and travelled from distant areas in the hope of securing employment, only to be shocked to find their names missing from the list displayed at the venue. They said that while several candidates from outside IIOJK were allowed to take part in the drive, many local aspirants were disallowed without any prior clarification.<\/p>\n
