The move is being viewed by observers as part of broader pattern to target Muslim-run educational institutions under the pretext of legal and financial irregularities.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the attached assets include the university’s 54-acres land located in the Dhauj area of Faridabad, along with the buildings of the university, and facilities housing various schools, departments and hostels. The attachment was carried out through a provisional order issued under the draconian Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The university came under the radar of the Indian agencies following the November 10 blast near Red Fort area blast in Delhi. The agencies have alleged that Umar-un-Nabi, a doctor associated with Al Falah University, was involved in the incident and died in what they claim was a suicide attack involving an explosive-laden vehicle.

Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui was arrested by the ED in November on allegations of money laundering charges, reportedly linked to cheating with students of the educational institutions run by the Al Falah Trust. The agency has alleged that these educational institutions lacked valid accreditation required to conduct certain academic programs.

The ED has now filed a charge sheet against Siddiqui and the Al Falah Trust before a special PMLA court, naming both as accused and seeking their prosecution under the anti-money laundering law, officials said.

Siddiqui’s legal counsel has strongly denied the allegations, describing the FIRs and the ED’s case as “false and fabricated.”

Observers and rights advocates argue that the crackdown reflects a wider agenda aimed at Muslim-run educational and social institutions, which they say are being systematically targeted to weaken voices advocating minority rights and to suppress Muslim empowerment. Critics warn that such actions, carried out under the guise of regulatory or legal enforcement, deepen insecurity among minority communities and could have long-term consequences for education and livelihoods.

New Delhi: India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth about Rs 140 crore of Haryana-based Al Falah University and filed a charge sheet against Al Falah Group chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui.
