New Delhi: The wife of Ladakh\u2019s detained climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, Gitanjali Angmo, has slammed the Modi government’s handling of the case, saying there’s “no merit” in the National Security Act (NSA) detention and authorities are seeking repeated date extensions.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, on an interview, Angmo expressed disappointment over the lack of stronger pushback against Wangchuk’s detention, calling it a reflection of the state of democracy in the country.<\/p>\n

“Modi regime is using power to illegally detain people. If it can happen to Sonam, it can happen to anyone,” she said.<\/p>\n

Wangchuk, a Magsaysay Award winner, was detained on Sept 26 under NSA following protests in Ladakh.<\/p>\n

Angmo alleged procedural lapses, including delayed provision of detention grounds, making it an “open and shut case” for release.<\/p>\n

The government has sought repeated court date extensions, prompting Angmo to criticize their tactics.<\/p>\n
