New Delhi: Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed serious concern over growing threats, harassment, and attacks faced by Kashmiris in different parts of India, particularly reports of Kashmiri shawl sellers being roughed up and intimidated by Hindu extremists.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Omar Abdullah warned that such incidents are creating fear and insecurity among Kashmiris living or working outside the occupied territory and reflect a disturbing climate of intolerance. He stressed that the safety and dignity of Kashmiris must be ensured and that targeting them on the basis of identity is unacceptable.<\/p>\n
Abdullah said repeated reports of harassment point to a wider pattern in which Kashmiris are being viewed with suspicion and hostility, exacerbating alienation and deepening mistrust. He emphasized that elected representatives have a responsibility to raise these concerns and seek concrete assurances for the protection of their people.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed various matters concerning occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
Omar Abdullah also conveyed strong reservations over what he described as undue and persistent interference by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in the functioning of the elected government, warning that such actions are undermining democratic governance in the territory. He reiterated that key administrative domains, including civil departments unrelated to security, are being controlled by the LG\u2019s office, effectively disempowering the Chief Minister\u2019s authority. Abdullah said the continued delay in finalizing the Transaction of Business Rules and the appointment of officers without the elected government\u2019s consent reflect an ongoing administrative strangulation that weakens accountability and erodes the mandate given by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
