Islamabad: \u00a0Dr. Muhammad Tahir Tabassum, President of the Institute of Peace and Development (INSPAD), a human rights organization, has accused Indian authorities of using the judiciary to suppress Kashmiri political leaders through politically motivated prosecutions.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Dr. Tabassum described cases against prominent detainees, including Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Asiya Andrabi, Fehmida Sofi, Nahida Nasreen, Masarat Alam, and Zafar Akbar Butt, as fabricated and vindictive. He alleged prolonged detention without adequate medical access or proper nutrition, violating Indian laws and international standards.<\/p>\n
He urged the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), European Union, and global human rights groups to intervene urgently. He also called on Pakistan to pursue diplomatic efforts against what he termed unjust punishments, particularly highlighting the targeting of women leaders as attempts to silence female voices in the movement.<\/p>\n
Dr. Tabassum condemned alleged interference in religious sites and property seizures in Indian-illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, framing them as violations of religious and personal freedoms.<\/p>\n
Citing advocacy figures, he claimed that since 1989, over 96,000 Kashmiris have been killed, including thousands in custody or staged encounters, alongside widespread arrests, home demolitions, widowhood, orphanhood, and sexual violence, attributing these to the BJP government’s Hindutva policies.<\/p>\n
