Srinagar: Flight operations at Srinagar International Airport in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir were completely suspended today as heavy snowfall and poor visibility disrupted air traffic across the Valley.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, an official at Srinagar airport said that while flight schedules initially witnessed intermittent cancellations and delays, operations were later fully suspended as weather conditions deteriorated.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs of now, all arriving and departing scheduled flights for the day stand cancelled due to poor visibility and passengers\u2019 safety,\u201d the official said.<\/p>\n

Earlier, at least 26 arrivals and departures were cancelled, including major flights connecting Srinagar with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Jammu.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, officials said traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway was suspended in both directions today following fresh snowfall in and around the Navyug Tunnel.<\/p>\n

They said the Kashmir Valley witnessed fresh snowfall late last night, severely impacting road, rail and air connectivity.<\/p>\n

An official said that vehicular movement between Jammu and Srinagar was halted after snow accumulation rendered the highway unsafe for travel.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition to Srinagar-Jammu Highway, the Mughal Road, Srinagar\u2013Sonamarg\u2013Gumri (SSG) Road and Sinthan Road were also closed due to fresh snowfall,\u201d the official said.<\/p>\n

Officials advised commuters to avoid travelling on the affected routes until snow clearance operations are completed and the roads are declared safe.<\/p>\n

Regarding air connectivity, at least 17 flights to and from Srinagar airport were cancelled due to ongoing snowfall and adverse weather conditions, officials said, adding that more cancellations were likely as snowfall continued to disrupt flight operations.<\/p>\n

Additionally, rail services on the Banihal\u2013Baramulla section were suspended after authorities cancelled several passenger trains due to heavy snowfall in parts of the occupied territory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
