Islamabad: On India\u2019s so-called Republic Day, today, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference organized a strong protest demonstration in Islamabad, marking the day as Black Day.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest aimed to convey to the international community that India is not a true democracy but an aggressive, colonial and occupying power that has been trampling the fundamental human rights of the Kashmiri people for decades.<\/p>\n
Participants carried black flags, placards and banners bearing slogans against India\u2019s military occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and in favour of the Kashmiri people\u2019s right to self-determination. The air of Islamabad echoed with slogans such as \u201cDown with India\u2019s so-called democracy,\u201d \u201cWhat do we want? Freedom,\u201d \u201cGo India Go Back,\u201d and \u201cWe will take freedom from India.\u201d<\/p>\n
The protest was led by APHC senior leader, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar while speakers strongly condemned the criminal silence of the international community over grave human rights violations being committed by Indian forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They demanded an end to India\u2019s military occupation and urged the world to acknowledge the just struggle of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, speakers said Kashmiris across the world observe January 26 as Black Day to expose India\u2019s false claims of democracy and to awaken the global conscience. They said that India has forcibly deprived over 13 million Kashmiris of their political, religious, social and human rights and has turned the occupied territory into a vast prison through extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, collective punishments and arbitrary arrests.<\/p>\n
In his address, Mahmood Ahmad Saghar said Pakistan has remained a sincere friend of the Kashmiri people and continues to extend political, diplomatic and moral support to their just struggle for freedom. He said while Pakistan consistently raises the Kashmir issue at all international forums, India is desperately trying to portray occupied Kashmir as its so-called integral part through force and deception.<\/p>\n

He questioned why the Kashmir dispute remains unresolved when long-standing conflicts elsewhere in the world have been settled through international intervention. He warned that failure to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions poses a serious risk of nuclear conflict in South Asia, with dangerous consequences for regional and global peace.<\/p>\n
The protest was attended by a large number of senior Hurriyat leaders and activists, including Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Syed Yousuf Naseem, Mir Tahir Masood, Madam Shameem Shawl, Syed Ejaz Rahmani, Dawood Khan, Hasan-al-Banna, Assistant Director Liberation Cell Sawar Khan, Najeeb-ul-Ghafoor, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Sanaullah Dar, Chaudhry Shaheen, Nisar Mirza, Raja Khadim Hussain, Nazir Ahmad Karnahi, Zahid Safi, Abdul Majeed Lone, Shafi Dar, Mian Muzaffar, Syed Gulshan Shah Ahmed, Adeel Mushtaq, Imtiaz Butt, Abdul Rasheed Butt, Riyas Mir, Khalid Shabbir, and others, besides media representatives.<\/p>\n
At the conclusion of the protest, a memorandum was prepared for submission to the United Nations, highlighting India\u2019s continued human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the denial of the Kashmiri people\u2019s inalienable right to self-determination. The memorandum urged the UN to move beyond statements, ensure implementation of its own resolutions on Kashmir, and play an effective role in resolving the dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
