New Delhi: At least eleven commandos of Indian armed forces were injured after a series of improvised explosive device (IED) blasts during an anti-Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh\u2019s Bijapur district.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the blasts occurred in the forested area of Karregutta Hills, where Maoists had allegedly planted multiple IEDs. Indian media reports said that six explosions took place while Indian forces were carrying out a combing operation in the area.<\/p>\n

Ten of the injured personnel belong to the District Reserve Guard (DRG), a unit of the Chhattisgarh Police, while one is from the Central Reserve Police Force\u2019s elite CoBRA unit. The injured CoBRA officer was identified as Rudresh Singh, a sub-inspector of the 210th battalion.<\/p>\n

The incident comes as the Indian government continues large-scale counterinsurgency operations in central India, vowing to eliminate Maoism by March 31, 2026. Despite such claims, violence continues to erupt in Maoist-affected regions.<\/p>\n

Official data shows that Bijapur, Sukma and Narayanpur districts of Chhattisgarh remain among the most affected areas. In 2025 alone, Indian authorities claimed that more than 2,100 alleged Maoists surrendered, while hundreds were killed or arrested during security operations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
