New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has said that poisonous propaganda, hate speech and inflammatory remarks targeting Muslims have become a routine practice of leaders of India\u2019s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Board\u2019s spokesperson, Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, in a strongly-worded statement, condemned the recent anti-Muslim remarks by BJP-affiliated Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and urged the Supreme Court to take notice of the matter. He said that the chief ministers of Assam, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh repeatedly and openly express hatred, prejudice and hostility towards Muslims.<\/p>\n
Qasim Rasool Ilyas questioned how a person who takes an oath to uphold the country\u2019s constitution before assuming office as a chief minister can indulge in abusive remarks and issue illegal directives against a particular community. He also urged India\u2019s secular political parties and justice-loving citizens to take serious note of the BJP leaders\u2019 escalating hate campaign.<\/p>\n
The Assam Chief Minister, during a speech at an official programme, reportedly urged Hindus to harass the \u201cMiya\u201d (Muslim) community so as to force them into distress and drive them out of the state.
