Chandigarh: A series of bomb threat emails targeting the Dera Sachkhand Ballan and at least five schools in Jalandhar, Punjab, were received, a day ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s scheduled visit to the sect\u2019s headquarters, today.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the threatening emails warned of bomb blasts at the schools and the Dera premises. The messages reportedly described Prime Minister Modi as \u201can enemy of Khalistanis,\u201d raising concerns about attempts to create panic ahead of his visit.<\/p>\n

Senior police officials said bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage teams were immediately pressed into service to carry out extensive security checks at the affected school premises. \u201cNothing suspicious was found during the searches,\u201d an official confirmed. The schools were closed on Saturday due to a holiday linked to Guru Ravidas Jayanti.<\/p>\n

Authorities said the Dera Sachkhand Ballan is already under heavy security in view of Modi\u2019s visit, and additional precautionary measures have been put in place across Jalandhar. Police believe the emails were intended to spread fear and disrupt public order ahead of the high-profile visit. An investigation has been launched to trace the origin of the threats.<\/p>\n

The incident follows similar bomb threat emails received earlier this week by several schools in Chandigarh, which also turned out to be hoaxes. In recent months, comparable threats have been reported in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala in Punjab, as well as Ambala in Haryana.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, stringent security arrangements continue across Jalandhar ahead of Prime Minister Modi\u2019s visit on Sunday. He is scheduled to visit Dera Sachkhand Ballan on the occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas.
