Lahore: A touching exhibition of European photojournalist Cedric Gerbehaye’s pictorial book “Kashmir: Wait and See” has kick-started in Lahore, refelcting on the struggles and resilience of Kashmiris.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the five-day event at the National College of Arts showcases Gerbehaye’s eight-year work, capturing the essence of Kashmir, its people, and their deteriorating social and political conditions under Indian occupation.<\/p>\n
The book launch, part of a series in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, coincides with Kashmir Solidarity Day, emphasizing the need for international attention to the Kashmir issue.<\/p>\n
Cedric Gerbehaye, who is from Belgium, completed his pictorial book on Kashmir over the past eight years. It includes detailed images from the occupied Kashmir, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Gerbehaye’s work documents Indian brutalities, including pellet gun victims and residents of Azad Kashmir living near the Line of Control who have been targeted by unprovoked gunfire committed by Indian army.<\/p>\n
Event is a testament to the Kashmir Council Europe’s efforts to raise awareness about Kashmir’s plagiate situation and advocate for a peaceful resolution.<\/p>\n
Ali Raza Syed, Chairman of the Kashmir Council EU, urged the global community to support Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, as enshrined in UN resolutions. In a message on the occasion, he said, \u201cToday, February 5th, is Kashmir Solidarity Day. We hold this exhibition today in Lahore, the Pakistan’s cultural heart and the soul of Punjab, so that the pain of Kashmiris can be felt through the images in this book.\u201d He urged all oppressed nations of the world and all people with humanitarian sympathy to feel the sufferings and miseries of the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir and express solidarity with them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
