Leh: The Modi-led Indian regime has signaled its reluctance to grant statehood or Sixth Schedule status to Ladakh, raising fears of a new wave of protests across the region, according to Cherring Dorjay Lakruk, co-chairman of the Leh Apex Body (LAB).<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking after a \u201cHigh-Powered Committee\u201d meeting convened by India\u2019s Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi, Lakruk described the talks as \u201cinconclusive\u201d and warned that the Modi government appears disinclined to accept the principal demands of the Ladakhi people.<\/p>\n

The Modi administration\u2019s stance comes despite repeated calls by local leaders for greater political rights and safeguards, highlighting New Delhi\u2019s continued obduracy in addressing the region\u2019s political aspirations.<\/p>\n

Analysts say the decision is likely to trigger widespread demonstrations in India\u2019s illegally occupied territory.<\/p>\n
