Jammu,: A protest was held in Katra, Reasi district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the proposed Vaishno Devi ropeway project.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstrators voiced strong opposition and warned of sustained agitation if the plan is not withdrawn.<\/p>\n

Participants raised slogans against the Bharatiya Janata Party, saying that the project was being pursued without adequately addressing local concerns. They said they would oppose the ropeway \u201ctooth and nail\u201d and would not support decisions taken in the name of any political party if such moves were against public interest.<\/p>\n

The protesters also criticised BJP MLA Baldev Sharma, saying that he had personal interests linked to the proposed project. They said such interests should not be allowed to influence decisions affecting livelihoods and the local economy.<\/p>\n

Speakers at the protest said the ropeway project would have adverse consequences for traditional businesses and employment in Katra, and demanded that the authorities reconsider the proposal after wider consultation with stakeholders.<\/p>\n
