The data is based on records from the Indian Home Ministry\u2019s Bureau of Immigration (BoI) for the period 2023 to 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Majumdar said that studying abroad is a matter of personal choice, influenced by factors such as affordability, access to loans, aptitude for specific fields, and exposure to foreign societies.<\/p>\n<p>Observers note that the decline in Indian students going abroad is not solely due to domestic reforms or cost factors. Rising incidents of discrimination, harassment, and attacks against Indians in foreign countries, linked to the aggressive Hindutva-driven politics of the Modi regime, have created a hostile environment for Indian students overseas. Analysts warn that the growing association of Indian citizens with extremist political agendas has made universities and societies abroad wary, prompting parents and students to reconsider international study options.
