Srinagar: Community health workers staged a protest in Srinagar against anti-people policies and the continued neglect of local employees by the administration in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, a large number of workers associated with Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) organizations assembled in the city, demanding the implementation of the Minimum Wages Act and proper remuneration in accordance with government norms. The protesters raised slogans against the occupation authorities, accusing them of failing to address their long-pending demands.<\/p>\n
Carrying placards, the workers said they have been delivering essential healthcare services at the grassroots level for years, particularly in rural and underserved areas, yet continue to receive meagre honorarium without statutory wage protection. They expressed anguish over financial insecurity and the lack of job security despite their critical role in strengthening the public health system.<\/p>\n
The protesting workers said the administration\u2019s failure to bring them under the ambit of the Minimum Wages Act reflects indifference towards frontline health workers. They vowed to continue their struggle until concrete measures are taken to ensure fair compensation and recognition of their services.<\/p>\n
