Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, hundreds of Daily Wagers and Casual Labourers took to the streets in Srinagar today, staging a protest at the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) to demand regularization of their services and release of pending wages.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, tthe protesters, comprising contractual employees and daily wagers, voiced their frustration over years of job insecurity and irregular payments.<\/p>\n
Daily wage workers from various government departments were stopped by police near Radio Kashmir Srinagar as they marched towards the National Conference headquarters, demanding immediate regularization of their services.<\/p>\n
The protesters, carrying placards and chanting slogans, expressed their frustration over prolonged uncertainty regarding their employment status. “We’ve been serving for years without permanent status, fixed salary structure, or social security benefits. It’s time the government listens to us,” one protester said. Police were deployed in strength to maintain law and order, and the situation remained peaceful despite heightened activity in the area.<\/p>\n
“We have been working for years without any job security, and our families are suffering due to lack of stability,” one protester said.<\/p>\n
The workers are seeking the government’s intervention to fulfill its promise of making them permanent and clearing their long-pending salaries.<\/p>\n
“Many of us have been working for over a decade, but we are still not regularized. It’s a shame,” another protester added.<\/p>\n
The protesters urged the authorities to take immediate action and resolve their issues without further delay. The demonstration highlights the playing concerns of casual labourers and daily wagers in the region, who continue to struggle for job security and fair treatment.<\/p>\n
