Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has stressed the importance of Tele-Law in reducing the burden on courts and ensuring timely justice.<\/p>\n

Addressing a regional workshop on tele-law activities, he said, “Justice delayed is justice denied, and efforts must be made to ensure that only cases requiring judicial hearings reach the courts, while others can be resolved through technology-driven legal aid under the Disha program.”<\/p>\n

Omar highlighted that Tele-Law connects citizens, especially in remote areas, to lawyers, educates them about their rights, and helps resolve disputes through mediation.<\/p>\n

Omar Abdulla\u2019s statement needs to be seen in the context of the plight of thousands of undertrials and pending cases against Kashmiris. He said the initiative could help alleviate the suffering of those languishing in jails awaiting trial. Many Kashmiris are stuck in legal limbo, with cases pending for years.
