\"\"New Delhi: The process for sentencing Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Aasiya Andrabi in a 2018 fake case has moved forward after procedural hurdles were cleared in a New Delhi court.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the defence counsel submitted a written no-objection, allowing Karkardooma court judge Chanderjit Singh to proceed with pronouncing the sentence against Andrabi and her two associates. The court had earlier directed the defence to clarify its position in writing.<\/p>\n

Following the submission, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) sought time to obtain further instructions and present its written stand. The matter has now been listed for February 23.<\/p>\n

Judge Singh, who had earlier heard the matter as an additional sessions judge in the NIA court, was transferred to a family court in November 2025.<\/p>\n

Legal observers say the prolonged procedural wrangling reflects the politically sensitive nature of cases involving Kashmiri pro-freedom leaders. Andrabi has long been a vocal advocate of the Kashmiris\u2019 right to self-determination and has faced multiple cases over the years.<\/p>\n
