New Delhi Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Arshad Madani has strongly condemned Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat for his recent \u201cGhar Wapsi\u201d statements, warning that such rhetoric spreads hatred and endangers India\u2019s constitutional values.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a post on X, Madani described Bhagwat\u2019s call for arranging a \u201cGhar Wapsi\u201d for \u201ctwenty crore Muslims\u201d as unprecedented in the past seven decades and deeply disturbing. He wrote, \u201cAny voice which leads the country toward ruin, destruction, unrest, and mutual enmity cannot be a voice of loyalty to India.\u201d<\/p>\n
The remarks follow Bhagwat\u2019s address in Lucknow, where he called for greater unity within Hindu society, stated that they need to be \u201ccautious,\u201d even though he said they are \u201cnot threatened\u201d by anyone. Bhagwat also called for accelerating the process of \u201cGhar Wapsi\u201d, encouraging efforts to care for those who return to Hinduism.<\/p>\n
\u201cGhar Wapsi\u201d is a term used by Hindutva groups in India for programs aimed at converting non-Hindus, mostly Muslims and Christians, back to Hinduism. Critics argue that these campaigns are coercive, communal, and politically motivated, often sparking tensions and violence.<\/p>\n
Madani\u2019s post also highlighted incidents of lynching and killings in the name of cow protection, warning of a growing \u201catmosphere of murder and violence\u201d in India. He criticized the BJP-led government\u2019s silence and said claims that only followers of a particular ideology have the right to live in India are a direct violation of the Constitution.<\/p>\n
Reiterating Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind\u2019s long-standing opposition to communal and hate-driven ideologies, he said, \u201cMuslims are alive and will remain alive in their faith. Peace and harmony in India are possible only under a secular constitutional framework.\u201d<\/p>\n
He stressed that no act of violence in the name of religion can be justified and that all religions preach humanity, tolerance, and unity. \u201cThose who use religion to spread hatred cannot be true followers of their faith.
