New Delhi: A Muslim man, who tried to save his teenage son from getting beaten up by a Hindutva group, was killed in Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Delhi state.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mohammed Umardeen was shot dead in Delhi\u2019s Nandi Nagri by the Hindutva goons while trying to rescue his teenage son from getting beaten up by a Hindutva group. He was targeted for his religious identity.<\/p>\n
Umardeen was relishing a cup of tea with his wife, mother and three daughters, when a call from his 15-year-old son, Tehjeem, changed everything. Tehjeem, who sounded tense, asked his father to rescue him after he was surrounded by an angry Hindu mob.<\/p>\n
According to his mother, the teenager was targeted for his religious identity. \u201cUnn logon ne usse rokha aur kahan, \u2018Yeh Musalmaan hai, isse maro.\u2019 Mere bacche ko itna maara ki uska sir fhaad diya (They stopped him and said, \u2018He is a Muslim, beat him.\u2019 They assaulted my child so brutally that his head was split open),\u201d she told local media.<\/p>\n
A grievously injured Tehjeem called up his father. \u201cWoh bola, \u2018Papa, mujhe bachao. Mujhe bahut maar rahein hai, Sonu aur uska bhai Sardar (\u201cHe told me, \u2018Papa, save me. They are beating me badly \u2014 Sonu and his brother Sardar),’\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
His mother recalls that as soon as her husband got the call, he ran to the place. Umardeen questioned the boys, who, by then, hid inside their home. \u201cAndar se gandi gandi gaaliyaan bakne lage, dono bhai (\u201cFrom inside, both brothers started hurling filthy abuses),\u201d Umardeen\u2019s wife said.<\/p>\n
As the commotion went on, one of the brothers came out with a gun and fired fatal shots at Umardeen. Umardeen\u2019s wife rushed him to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead.<\/p>\n
\u201cMere bacho se unka saaya cheen liya (They have taken away the shadow of their father from my children),\u201d Umardeen\u2019s wife said. His mother, an elderly citizen, could not bear the loss of her son. \u201cJiska mara, uska dil dukhtha hai. Na police ka jaatha hai, na kisi janta ka. Chothe bache hai uske. Kya hoga unka? (The one who has lost someone is the one who feels the pain. Neither the police nor the public truly bear it. He has small children \u2014 what will happen to them?),\u201d the mother said.<\/p>\n
