Srinagar, February 21 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Peoples Democratic Party has demanded closure of liquor shops during the holy month of Ramadan.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, PDP leader Zohaib Yusuf Mir in a statement issued in Srinagar said if meat shops can be closed in cities like Kashi and Mathura of India to respect the sentiments of the majority on the occasion of Navratri, then why can\u2019t the same principle of religious sensitivity be adopted in the Muslim-majority territory of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n

He said that administrative steps are taken at places of historical and religious importance to ensure that the majority community can practice their faith without any inconvenience. “Can\u2019t we demand the same basic respect in occupied Jammu and Kashmir?”<\/p>\n

The PDP leader also urged the administration to rationalize the working hours of government employees during Ramadan, as is already implemented in the Indian states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.<\/p>\n

He said an elected government cannot only take such steps but it is its moral responsibility to promote a conducive environment.<\/p>\n
