Bijapur: Indian forces killed two people in violence-hit Chhattisgarh state.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the killings took place during a cordon and search operation in Bijapur district of the state. Indian police officials, justifying the killings, have termed the deceased as Naxalites.<\/p>\n

The exchange of fire broke out in a forest along the Indravati river in the morning when a joint team of Indian forces was out on an anti-Naxalite operation, a senior police official said.<\/p>\n

With this violent action, at least 25 people, labelled as Maoists, have been killed in separate operations in the state so far this year.<\/p>\n

Over the last two years (2024\u20132025), more than 500 people, labelled as Maoists, have been killed by Indian forces during cordon-and-search operations carried out in Bijapur district. Notably, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has issued orders giving a free hand to all Indian forces, including the army, paramilitary, and police personnel, to eliminate members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), also known as Naxalites, by March 2026. These groups are often associated with demands for political justice and freedom.<\/p>\n
