{"id":195750,"date":"2026-02-26T12:23:43","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T07:23:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/?p=195750"},"modified":"2026-02-26T12:23:43","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T07:23:43","slug":"pakistan-laments-omission-of-kashmiri-childrens-plight-in-un-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/2026\/02\/26\/pakistan-laments-omission-of-kashmiri-childrens-plight-in-un-report.html","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan laments omission of Kashmiri children&#8217;s plight in UN report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-195751\" src=\"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/assests\/2026\/02\/12-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"185\" \/><\/p>\n<p>United Nations: Highlighting that children living under foreign occupation are particularly vulnerable to human rights abuses and violence, Pakistan has called for intensifying efforts to strengthen child protection by addressing root causes of conflicts and resolving them through peaceful means.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Occupied Palestinian Territory \u2013 both in Gaza and the West Bank \u2013 countless children have been killed or scarred for life,\u201d Pakistani delegate Zulfiqar Ali said in his remarks to the UN Security Council meeting held under Arria-Formula format named after a former Venezuelan Ambassador to the UN, Diego Arriva.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kashmir Media Service, Zulfiqar Ali regretted that the plight of children in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, previously documented in the UN chief\u2019s reports, has been omitted, despite the worsening of their plight after India\u2019s illegal and unilateral measures of 5 August 2019, when New Delhi annexed the disputed territory. \u201cThis selective omission risks obscuring the full-scale of violations affecting children in situations of foreign occupation,\u201d said Zulfiqar Ali, a first secretary at the Pakistan Mission to the UN.
