Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s recent visit to Israel, saying it was not in line with India\u2019s traditional foreign policy and sent a wrong message.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehbooba Mufti, speaking to reporters in Islamabad, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, objected to Modi\u2019s public meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think India\u2019s policy is against it. Today, much of the world opposes Israel PM Netanyahu. The International Criminal Court has indicted him. He does not visit many countries for fear of arrest,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Referring to Modi\u2019s engagement with Netanyahu, Mehbooba said, \u201cModi, who represents 140 crore people, goes there and hugs a criminal. I think it is not a good sign for India.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Prime Minister should be mindful of the message such engagements send at a time when the situation in Gaza has drawn international attention,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Mehbooba said Netanyahu is responsible for civilian deaths in Gaza.<\/p>\n
\u201cNetanyahu should be held accountable for the killing of civilians in Gaza. In some countries, he could face legal action,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
On local issues, she called for early panchayat elections in the occupied territory. She said people in IIOJK believed that after the government was formed, their difficulties would be resolved, but they have not been addressed. “So, panchayat elections should take place,\u201d Mehbooba said, urging voters to \u201celect good persons\u201d instead of focusing on political parties.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
