New Delhi: The Indian Supreme Court has deferred to March 10 the hearing on a petition filed by Gitanjali J Angmo, the wife of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk\u2014detained under the draconian National Security Act (NSA).<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, Wangchuk was detained on September 26, 2025 under the draconian National Security Act (NSA) following protests in Leh over demands for statehood and constitutional safeguards, which turned violent. Four people were killed and dozens were injured Indian forces\u2019 firing on the protesters.<\/p>\n

A Bench of Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice PB Varale said during the Holi vacation, it will watch the videos of Wangchuk\u2019s speeches given to it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to see those pen drives. We have asked the Registrar IT to make arrangements during vacations,\u201d it said, adding it will finish hearing on March 10 and reserve its order.<\/p>\n

As the matter came up for hearing, a lawyer representing the Indian government sought an adjournment on the ground that Solicitor General Tushar Mehta was busy in another court.<\/p>\n

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Angmo, opposed the adjournment plea, saying this can\u2019t be allowed.<\/p>\n

When the matter was taken up again, Mehta submitted that a CD had been submitted and that he would make submissions after the court watched it.<\/p>\n

Following this, the Bench posted the matter for hearing on March 10 and said it would watch the videos by then.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
