Srinagar: The Indian Army has announced recruitment of 800 porters in the Rajouri and Poonch districts near the Line of Control in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, raising concerns among defence analysts that the move could be part of a Modi regime\u2019s possible misadventure against Pakistan.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian Army will hold recruitment rallies from March 12 to March 19 at several brigade headquarters in Rajouri and Poonch districts to enrol 600 porters and 200 reserve porters for a newly raised Army Porter Company. Officials said the 279 Porter Company will be raised for a period of 179 days from April 1 to September 26 under the Ministry of Defence.<\/p>\n

The recruitment drives will take place at brigade headquarters in Poonch and Rajouri, as well as at Balnoi, Naushera, Bhimber Gali, Mendhar and Manjakote. Applicants aged between 18 and 40 years have been asked to report with identity documents, police verification and medical fitness certificates.<\/p>\n

Defence observers say such large-scale recruitment of porters in sensitive LOC sectors is typically linked to intensified troop logistics and operational mobility in mountainous areas.<\/p>\n
