Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti expressed solidarity with the people of Iran and urged the Indian government to immediately release all Kashmiri youth arrested for participating in protests against US-Israeli aggression.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Mufti highlighted the historical and cultural links between Kashmir and Iran, noting Islam reached Kashmir through Iran. She underlined the deep spiritual and civilizational ties between the two regions. She also called on Muslim countries to extend support to Iran.<\/p>\n
Mufti appreciated the people of Kashmir for holding peaceful protests in solidarity with the Iranian people and appealed to the Kashmiris to pray for Iran and the Muslim Ummah.<\/p>\n
She urged the IIOJK administration, led by New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, to reconsider the arrests of people who participated in anti-Israel, anti-US and pro-Iran demonstrations across the territory, and demanded their release.<\/p>\n
The PDP chief also called on the BJP-led Indian government to reconsider its policy toward Iran.<\/p>\n
Mufti also mentioned the bail granted by Indian Supreme Court to Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah, who had been illegally detained, noting that his daughter had struggled tirelessly for his release. She stressed that justice should be extended to all Kashmiri detainees held under similar circumstances.<\/p>\n
Mufti further welcomed the decision of the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs to revoke the detention of Ladakh environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk, describing the move a positive and welcome step.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
