Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the administration under the New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor has once again disallowed Eid prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, marking the eight consecutive year of such restrictions.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the gates of Jamia Masjid in Nawhatta area were sealed early Saturday, with Indian forces\u2019 personnel deployed outside to prevent entry.<\/p>\n

Senior All Partied Hurriyet Conference (APHC) leader and chief cleric of Kashmir, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was also again placed under house arrest. He was also prevented from offering Friday prayers at the historic mosque a day earlier.<\/p>\n

Condemning the move on X, Mirwaiz said Eid prayers continue to be barred at Jamia Masjid through restrictions and house arrests. \u201cA day of celebration has been turned into grief and denial for Muslims . It\u2019s an irony of our times that those who lock our mosques and Eidgahs are the first to wish us Eid Mubarak!,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, in a statement, expressed deep regret over the decision, saying authorities once again prevented Eid-ul-Fitr prayers by closing the mosque gates and deploying police personnel outside.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
