Lucknow: 14 Muslims arrested for holding an Iftar party on a boat in the Ganga River in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh state were presented in court. Despite tearfully pleading for forgiveness and requesting bail, the judge, acting under the influence of the Modi government, sent them to 14 days of judicial remand.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, senior lawyer Shashank Shekhar, representing the accused, said that all 14 had apologized in court and requested their release, but bail was denied. The police had sought a 14-day judicial custody, which the court approved. The next hearing is scheduled for March 23.<\/p>\n
