New Delhi: Indian opposition leaders have strongly criticized the recently released film Dhurandhar: The Revenge (commonly referred to as Dhurandhar 2), calling it a deliberate attempt to spread hatred and malign Muslims.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, opposition figures argue that the film unfairly targets the Muslim community, while BJP leaders defend it as a truthful depiction of national security realities.<\/p>\n
Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi from Maharashtra questioned film\u2019s portrayal of slain Indian politician and MP Atiq Ahmed as having direct links to Pakistan\u2019s ISI, insisting there is no such connection. \u201cThis film is made only to spread hatred. It falsely links an entire community to wrongdoing,\u201d Azmi said, adding that such depictions foster social division.<\/p>\n
Congress leader Hussain Dalwai echoed these concerns, suggesting the film\u2019s funding should be investigated, hinting it \u201cmay be financed by the RSS.\u201d Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad said that the BJP was using the film to divert attention from real issues like unemployment. Congress MP Imran Masood dismissed the film as \u201cnonsense\u201d, stressing that India\u2019s 25 crore Muslims cannot be alienated and warning that hatred hampers national progress.<\/p>\n
On the other side, BJP leaders defended the film, claiming it reflects factual events and highlights national security challenges.<\/p>\n
Observers say the film is part of a growing pattern in which the BJP uses cinema and popular culture to stoke communal tensions, particularly against Muslims, while also leveraging such narratives for political mileage.
