Says long prison sentences to Aasiya Andrabi, others condemnable <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam has said that Indian courts are being used for nefarious purposes against Kashmiris.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Amir Muqam addressing a press conference in Islamabad along with All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir leadership said Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders are being sentenced in false cases.
He said the government of Pakistan strongly condemns and completely rejects this decision which shows that Indian courts are not independent. He said there is no case against Aasiya Andrabi and she has only spoken about freedom and truth adding the real face of India has come before the world.
The Federal Minister said India has been committing atrocities in occupied Kashmir for decades. He said India cannot suppress the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiris. He said that the women leaders were punished for their struggle for the Kashmiris’ right of self-determination.
Amir Muqam said that India should remember that through such punishment it cannot end the freedom movement for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiris.
Speaking on the occasion, APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Shamim Shaal and other Hurriyat leaders, said the only crime of Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmida Sufi and Naheeda Nasreen is that they raised their voice against the illegal occupation of India and demanded the inalienable right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
They made it clear that declaring Jammu and Kashmir as a so-called integral part of India was against the ground realities and such narratives could not be used as a justification for denying the fundamental, political and human rights of the Kashmiri people.
They reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue their legitimate and historical struggle at all costs, adding the role of women Hurriyat leaders in the Kashmir freedom movement will always live in the golden and bright chapters of history.
They paid great tribute to the courage, perseverance and unwavering determination of all the prisoners of freedom including Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmida Sufi and Naheeda Nasreen and said their sacrifices are an unforgettable asset in the history of the Kashmir freedom movement.
The speakers called upon the international community, especially the United Nations, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch, to take immediate notice of the serious human rights violations ongoing in occupied Kashmir and take practical steps to release political detainees. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
