Imphal: In the strife-torn Indian state of Manipur, Indian forces have arrested at least 33 members of the Christian-dominated Kuki tribe.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the arrests were carried out during a large-scale cordon and search operation conducted by Indian army, paramilitary, and police personnel in Churachandpur district and adjoining hill areas. The forces also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from those detained.<\/p>\n
The arrested individuals have been accused of carrying out attacks on the army, paramilitary forces, and members of the Hindu-majority Meitei community in Bishnupur district on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
In a separate incident, Indian forces\u2019 personnel also arrested an active member of the Kuki National Front from the Tuibong area.<\/p>\n
Simultaneously, Indian forces intensified search operations in several parts of the state, including the Gamdai area of Kangpokpi district, Tuinomjang and the Sanasabi forest areas in Imphal East district, as well as the Mahadev Thoyee and Zalengbung ridges in Ukhrul district. During these operations, the forces claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition and dismantled dozens of allegedly illegal bunkers.<\/p>\n
