Anwar Samavi, have paid great tributes to the martyrs and said that Ashfaq Majeed Wani was a brave, dynamic, visionary and talented young man who led the movement while following the footsteps of Shaheed M. Maqbool Butt and the late Amanullah Khan.<\/p>\n<p>He said on March 30, 1990, Ashfaq Majeed Wani achieved martyrdom in accordance with his wish, the spokesman informed.<\/p>\n<p>He said Internationally renowned cardiologist and social activist Dr Abdul Ahad Guru, in a well hatched Indian conspiracy embraced martyrdom on April 1, 1993 in Srinagar.<\/p>\n<p>Following the footsteps of Shaheed Dr Guru, human rights activist Advocate Jalil A. Andrabi was also arrested on March 8, 1996 by Indian military officer Maj. Avtar Singh. He was extra-judicially killed in custody and later on 27 March his body was found in the Jhelum River in Srinagar, he added.<\/p>\n<p>The chief spokesman said Jalil Andrabi highlighted human rights violations perpetrated by Indian forces in occupied Jammu Kashmir at a local and international forum, the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, Syed Shabbir A. Siddiqui, a prominent Islamic scholar of the territory, fell victim to Indian forces during the siege of Hazratbal shrine on 30 March 1996. The JKLF office located near the shrine was demolished to ground in which about two dozen members of the party, including Shabbir Siddiqui, were martyred. A few days before this siege, on March 25, some important members of the JKLF including Commander Basharat Raza, were also martyred on the spot.<\/p>\n<p>According to the spokesman, the JKLF leaders expressed their serious concern over the continued arrest and sentencing of top pro-freedom Kashmiri political leaders, including JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi and her two associates.<\/p>\n<p>They demanded the early and unconditional release of all pro-freedom political prisoners, he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Islamabad: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has paid tribute to renowned liberation leaders Ashfaq Majeed Wani, Dr Abdul Ahad Guru and Jalil Andrabi Advocate and other martyrs of India illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of their anniversaries.
