According to Kashmir Media Service, the statement by Omar Abdullah came after a family in the Valley said that the deceased in the encounter was their kin and he had \u201cno link with militancy\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Army had claimed that a “militant” was killed in an encounter in central Kashmir\u2019s Ganderbal.<\/p>\n
Reacting to the media report, Omar said, “he believes the claim of the family should not be dismissed out of hand”.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the very least, this encounter needs a transparent & time-bound probe with the facts made public. Any attempt to obfuscate or delay the announcement of a probe will only damage credibility and that is not in anyone\u2019s interest,\u201d Omar wrote on X.<\/p>\n
Ajaz Ahmad, brother of Rashid Ahmad Mughal, from the Chountwaliwar area of Ganderbal, told the media that his brother had left home on Tuesday morning but didn\u2019t return.<\/p>\n
Ajaz further stated that his brother had no link with militancy. \u201cWe are shocked to hear this. He was totally innocent and he has been killed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
