He reportedly appreciated the formation for maintaining readiness and professionalism, and at Baramulla, he received a presentation on emerging technologies integrated into operational planning. Addressing officers, the CDS emphasised coordinated action across land, air, cyber, and space domains, and stressed the need for joint training, alignment of doctrines, and long-term strategic planning.

Officials added that Chauhan also interacted with civil administration representatives and reviewed regional development initiatives. However, critics highlight that such narratives often mask the ongoing militarisation, suppression of dissent, and violations of Kashmiri rights in the territory.

Analysts note that India has a long record of crafting false narratives on Kashmir, presenting the occupied region as peaceful and strategically managed while continuing heavy militarisation and curbs on civil liberties. The Modi regime, in particular, has attempted to distort facts to push a manufactured Kashmir narrative, portraying routine military presence and meetings as evidence of “normalcy,” while ignoring the persistent unrest, resistance, and hardships faced by local populations.

Kashmir remains an internationally recognized dispute, and no unilateral action by India can alter its status. Kashmiris continue to resist all attempts to dilute the region’s disputed character, and India’s claims of development or operational efficiency do not change the reality on the ground.

Observers stress that such exercises serve more to consolidate India’s strategic messaging than to address the legitimate aspirations of Kashmiris, whose universally recognized right to self-determination remains unfulfilled. The United Nations, they argue, has a moral obligation to enforce its resolutions and ensure that any claims about the region reflect the facts, rather than misleading narratives presented by New Delhi.

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Anil Chauhan reviewed operational preparedness along the Line of Control in Kashmir with observers stating such statements are part of India’s long-standing effort to project a false image of “normalcy” in the disputed territory.
