People chanted slogans including \u201cJeet Hamari Insha Allah\u201d and \u201cAllahu Akbar,\u201d while some carried portraits of Iranian leaders, including the martyred supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.<\/p>\n<p>The celebrations reflected long-standing cultural and religious ties between Kashmir and Iran, often described locally as \u201cIran-e-Sagheer\u201d (Little Iran). In several places, traditional Kashmiri kehwa was served as people commmorated what they termed a significant geopolitical moment in which Iran had compelled global powers to negotiate.<\/p>\n<p>Residents expressed a sense of triumph and relief. \u201cThe ceasefire is a victory for Iran. It brought the US and Israel to their knees. Today, we are celebrating this victory,\u201d said a resident in Badgam. Another resident from Bandipora, Javed Hussain, described it as \u201cthe triumph of good over evil after weeks of fighting.\u201d Others likened the moment to Eid, linking it to broader hopes for positive developments in Palestine and the wider Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>Similar sentiments were echoed in Kargil district of Ladakh region, where prominent political leader and social activist Sajjad Kargili termed the ceasefire a \u201cmajor win\u201d for Iran and its allies, adding that key objectives of the United States and Israel had not been achieved.<\/p>\n<p>The ceasefire, brokered with Pakistan&#8217;s help, has been welcomed by world leaders, including Iranian leadership and US President Donald Trump praising Pakistan&#8217;s efforts.
