New Delhi: Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Professor Salim Engineer has expressed deep concern over the recent events of the workers’ protest in Noida, where factory workers’ protest demonstration became violent seeking fair pay and better working conditions.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Professor Salim Engineer in a statement issued in New Delhi described these incidents as a result of economic crisis and the continuous ignorance of workers’ rights.<\/p>\n
He said, “Workers’ protest in Noida exposes harsh realities faced by a large portion of the workforce, with a low salary of Rs 9,000 to Rs 13,000 per month, long working period of 10 to 12 hours, overtime compensation shortage and jobs.”<\/p>\n
He said these workers contribute significantly to the development of the economy, yet their basic rights related to dignity, fair compensation and human working conditions are unresolved. He said their demands are justified and worth instant attention. “At the same time, we also insist that protest should be peaceful and in the realm of law, because violence only worsens the situation and distracts attention from legitimate demands,” he added.<\/p>\n
He said, “This situation indicates a lack of communication between workers, industry and government, creating mistrust and increasing tension.” Sustainable industrial growth requires a stable, safe and motivated workforce, and it cannot be achieved by neglecting labor rights. We urge the government to intervene immediately, facilitate meaningful interaction among all stakeholders and ensure timely solutions to workers’ complaints.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
