Lahore: A protest demonstration was organized in front of the Press Club, Lahore, under the auspices of Kashmir Centre, Lahore, against the sentences given to Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmida Sufi and Nahida Nasreen by an Indian court.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, a large number of people, belonging to different sections of thought, besides leaders of political and social parties, participated in the demonstration and termed these sentences as unjust.<\/p>\n
The protest demonstration was addressed by Pakistan Peoples Party leader Ghulam Abbas Mir, General Secretary of PML-N Women’s Wing Dr Farzana Nazir, in charge of Kashmir Centre, Lahore, Inam-ul-Hassan, leader of Mahaz-e-Raishumari Aftab Nazki, renowned religious scholar Allama Fida-ur-Rehman Haideri and Saqib Butt.<\/p>\n
The speakers on the occasion said the punishment of Hurriyat leaders in false cases by biased Indian courts is a serious violation of basic human rights. They said that Kashmiris have never accepted India’s usurping occupation and they are determined to take the movement to its logical conclusion.<\/p>\n
The speakers said preparations are being made to give the death penalty to illegally detained Hurriyat leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, who has already been sentenced to life imprisonment, and if this is done, the real face of India will be further exposed.<\/p>\n
They said the only fault of Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andarbi and other Hurriyat leaders is that they are raising their voice for the freedom of their homeland and demanding the right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.<\/p>\n
The speakers appealed to the international community and human rights organizations to take notice of the ongoing Indian oppression against innocent Kashmiris and play a role in giving them their inalienable right to self-determination.<\/p>\n
The protesters were carrying placards and banners on which slogans were written regarding justice, freedom and the end of human rights violations.<\/p>\n
Last month, a court of the notorious National Investigation Agency (NIA) sentenced Aasiya Andrabi to life imprisonment and Fehmida Sofi and Nahida Nasreen to 30 years in prison each in a false case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
