They were detained in the aftermath of the September 24 protests in Leh that left four persons dead and scores injured.<\/p>\n<p>The leaders were accorded a traditional welcome by locals and members of the Leh Apex Body (LAB), which along with the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) has been pressing for their release while engaging New Delhi on demands for statehood and Sixth Schedule safeguards for Ladakh.<\/p>\n<p>Their release comes over a month after climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was freed from Jodhpur Central Jail on March 14, following revocation of his detention under the National Security Act (NSA).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Leh: Highlighting continued political repression in Ladakh region of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, two Congress leaders, including a former MLA, were released from Leh district jail after nearly seven months of detention under draconian laws following the September 2025 protests.
