Baruipur: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said the BJP\u2019s \u201cdownfall has begun\u201d after New Delhi failed to secure passage of a Constitution amendment bill in the Lok Sabha, exposing that the Modi government is now a \u201cminority government\u201d surviving on allies.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing rallies in Uluberia and Baruipur, the TMC supremo said Friday\u2019s defeat showed the BJP no longer enjoys a majority of its own. The bill, seeking to link women\u2019s reservation with delimitation, was defeated as it secured only 298 votes against the required 352 for a two-thirds majority, while 230 MPs voted against it.<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday proved they are no longer a majority government. It is a minority government. They are somehow running it with the support of two parties,\u201d Banerjee said, questioning why women\u2019s reservation was tied to delimitation. \u201cIs this an attempt to hide fish with greens?\u201d she asked, alleging New Delhi was concealing its real intentions. She also attacked the BJP over Bihar CM Nitish Kumar\u2019s resignation, saying, \u201cThey used him during the elections and then pushed him aside,\u201d and warned people against filling forms under a BJP cash scheme, alleging it was fraud to take money from accounts. \u201cYesterday, Modi\u2019s downfall began in Delhi.
