The damage was discovered by the family early in the morning, leaving them devastated.

The orchard owner, Qalbi Hussain Mir, said around 55 high-density apple plants were destroyed in what appeared to be a deliberate act aimed at crippling the family’s sole source of income. “These trees were the result of years of hard work. We have been left with nothing,” a family member said, urging authorities to bring the culprits to justice.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation, but locals have expressed deep concern over the growing trend of such incidents, which they say are increasingly affecting the already fragile agrarian economy of the region.

Observers and analysts noted that such acts are not isolated, pointing out that over 400 fruit trees have been chopped down in similar incidents across different parts of the occupied territory a few days ago. They said the repeated destruction of orchards reflects a disturbing pattern that is pushing farming communities towards economic distress.

The residents have demanded strict action against those involved and called for measures to protect orchards, warning that continued inaction could further endanger the livelihood of thousands dependent on horticulture in the territory.

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, unknown people in plainclothes have chopped down dozens of apple trees in Baramulla district, intensifying concerns over repeated acts targeting the livelihood of local farmers.
