Isphal : Protests against Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh\u2019s visit to Thoubal forced security forces to open \u201ccontrolled fire,\u201d leaving one person injured, while Naga and Kuki villagers clashed in Kangpokpi district amid a shutdown in Manipur.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, police said a large group armed with stones and catapults advanced toward the venue in Wangjing Tentha, where the CM arrived by helicopter to inaugurate a block development office. \u201cDespite repeated warnings\u2026 the crowd continued to move aggressively,\u201d police stated, adding that \u201ccontrolled firing was undertaken as a last resort\u201d to disperse the mob. One protester sustained bullet injuries.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Naga-Kuki clashes erupted in Kangpokpi during a three-day shutdown called by the United Naga Council over the killing of two Naga travellers in Ukhrul.
