Srinagar, : Amid continued Indian repression, raids, and the use of black laws against Kashmiris, Indian police conducted searches at Central Jail Srinagar in connection with a fabricated case, seizing digital communication devices during the operation.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of police carried out search operations across multiple barracks and blocks inside the prison on Saturday. Searches were conducted under various sections of the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.<\/p>\n
Officials claimed that the raids were conducted based on technical inputs about the presence of suspicious digital signatures inside the jail premises. They said that that the searches were carried out in a case registered in June 2023.<\/p>\n
They further said that digital communication devices and other \u201cincriminating\u201d material were recovered and seized, adding that an inquiry has also been initiated into how the devices entered the high-security prison and whether any facilitators were involved.<\/p>\n
The officials said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb the alleged misuse of communication devices in sensitive installations, including prisons, and to investigate activities linked to freedom movement in Kashmir.<\/p>\n
