Srinagar: Amid growing resentment against anti-people policies of the New Delhi-installed administration in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, scores of residents, mostly women, staged separate protests in Srinagar and Jammu over acute water shortages, accusing authorities of prolonged negligence and administrative apathy.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, in Srinagar, residents of Mir Abad, Batmaloo, blocked the busy Batmaloo-Tengpora main road in the morning, disrupting traffic for some time. Protesters, mostly women, raised slogans against the authorities for failing to ensure regular drinking water supply in the locality.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been without water for many days. Our daily routine has been badly affected and despite repeated requests, no one is listening to us,\u201d said a protester. Another resident said the shortage has caused immense hardship for families, especially women, children and the elderly. \u201cWe are forced to fetch water from far-off places,\u201d she added. The protesters urged the concerned department to restore water supply without delay, warning of intensified agitation if the issue remains unresolved.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a similar protest was held in Dansal against the worsening water crisis across the Nagrota constituency in Jammu. Protesters complained of the power department\u2019 s prolonged negligence and failure.<\/p>\n

Protesters said the situation was the result of \u201cadministrative apathy and systemic failure,\u201d which has severely disrupted water supply and caused hardship to thousands of residents.
