New Delhi: Congress leader and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, lower house of Indian parliament, Rahul Gandhi has said that voices of the people of Ladakh, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been suppressed, democratic rights crushed, and their land and fragile environment are being handed over to Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s \u201cbillionaire friends\u201d.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Rahul Gandhi posted a video on X of his recent interaction with youngsters from Ladakh. The video was posted amid Indian Home Minister Amit Shah\u2019s Ladakh visit.<\/p>\n
He said the people of Ladakh are not against development but they want development that benefits the locals.<\/p>\n
In a post in Hindi on X, Rahul said, \u201cThe youngsters from Ladakh told me how their beautiful homeland has been turned into a police state. Their voices have been suppressed, democratic rights crushed, and their land and fragile environment are being handed over to Modiji\u2019s billionaire friends.\u201d \u201cThe people of Ladakh are not against development. They want jobs and industry, but development that benefits the local people. I hope that during his visit, the home minister can understand this reality,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
In the video, the Congress leader said the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indian government does not understand that India is a multi-cultural and multi-religious country.<\/p>\n
