New Delhi: A special court of India\u2019s notorious National Investigation Agency (NIA) has sentenced two individuals to over five years of imprisonment each for hoisting a Khalistani flag on a government building in Punjab.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, Inderjeet Singh and Jaspal Singh, residents of Moga in Punjab, were awarded five years and six months of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 16,000 each. The NIA had filed a chargesheet against them before the court of SAS Nagar in Mohali.<\/p>\n

The incident took place on August 14, 2020, when both individuals hoisted a Khalistani flag on the office building of the Deputy Commissioner in Moga. They had entered the DC office a day before India\u2019s Independence Day and climbed onto the rooftop of the building to place the flag.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun of the US-based pro-Khalistan group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) had announced rewards, offering $125,000 to any Indian youth who would hoist a Khalistani flag at Delhi\u2019s Red Fort and $2,500 for hoisting the flag at any government building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
